Biography

Susan Witt was born in Ames, Iowa. Witt received a teaching degree from the University of Northern Iowa in 1970 and a Master's of Education in Teacher Leadership from the University of Minnesota in 1995. Witt is a retired elementary school teacher.[1][2]

Witt has been affiliated with Education Minnesota Retired and Family Promise in Anoka County.[2]

The signature filing deadline for candidates wishing to run in this election was June 3, 2014. Susan Witt was unopposed in the Democratic primary. My name is Susan Witt. I am a retired teacher who has taught elementary students for 27 years. I live in Blaine with my husband who is a retired chemisrtry teacher. We both taught in the Spring Lake Park School District. We have three adult children and three grandchildren. While teaching I earned my Masters of Education degree in teacher leadership..I currently serve on the Eduction Minnesota Governing Board. I am active in my church where i have served on the church council, sing in the choir, am part of the outreach team, and serve as our church's volunteer coordinator for Family Promise. I have also served on our Homeowners Association Board. I also volunteer for Meals on Wheels and Fare for All. I am passionate about community service and want to continue that service by presenting our community on the School Board.
  • We need to ensure that students and their success is at the center of every decision. Students safety, mental health and academic success is of first importance. e.
  • We need to maintain a safe, welcoming environment where every student can come to school and learn without fear and be challanged academically..
  • We need to support our teachers and staff so they have the resources, skills, and time they need to their best for students.
Making sure our schools are safe for all students, physically as well as mental health wise.
My first tesching job was in Holt, Michigan teaching fourth grade. I then taught first grade for two years in the same building before we moved out of state.
All of the north and the west side of the city of Blaine and the northeast corner of Coon Rapids.
Many different cultural groups are represented in the city.
I would encourage more involvement by different cultural groups in the formation of advisory committees
