Campaign themes

2016

The following issues were listed on Randolph's campaign website. For a full list of campaign themes, click here.

  • Women and Equality: Women and girls will never reach their true potential unless they are healthy, safe, and free from violence or the threat of it. Lawmakers must stop trying to elbow their way in between a woman and her physician. We must continue to educate and prosecute in ways that prevent domestic violence, rape, and human trafficking. Fully funding an inclusive Violence Against Women Act can help accomplish that goal.
  • Strengthening the Middle Class: Protect American Jobs. We need to eliminate trade deals that cost American jobs and replace them with fair trade agreements that force our trading partners to respect American protections for workers and the environment. We cannot create and protect good jobs at home when trade deals allow other countries to undercut the American worker.
  • Caring for Our Seniors: Protect Medicare. We need to require the federal government to negotiate lower drug prices for Medicare and Medicaid beneficiaries. This will save more than $200 billion per year, which can be used to strengthen Medicare's future.
  • Investing in Our Children's Future: Affordable College. We need to ensure that our students have an opportunity for higher education by making our universities more affordable. We also need to allow everyone to refinance their student loans more than once in order to take advantage of lower interest rates--just like any other loan.
  • Combating Climate Change: Ban offshore drilling to protect our coastal communities, and take serious steps to leave fossil fuels in the ground and move towards 100 percent renewable resources,
