Who are you? Tell us about yourself.

I am a hard working, America First, average Missourian. I am a concerned citizen that is deeply troubled by the direction of our nation. I am a Christian, conservative Republican that cannot sit on the side lines and wait for things to get better.

Please list below 3 key messages of your campaign. What are the main points you want voters to remember about your goals for your time in office?

• Proven conservative by the American Conservative Union (CPAC) 90% and Americans for Prosperity 88%
• I fight for faith, family and freedom and the proof is in the bills I file and support.
• I am not for sale. Lobbyists and special interests cannot buy my votes with campaign contributions. Always follow the money to see how people vote!

What areas of public policy are you personally passionate about?

Inflation and taxation are destroying our way of life. We must get government spending under control.

Protecting children and families from the liberal-socialist agenda.
Healthcare cost and healthcare privacy and freedom.

Foster care system and adoption process.

Who do you look up to? Whose example would you like to follow, and why?

Jesus Christ, the only perfect person that walked the earth. I also have many other people that I look up to but I don't try to follow anyone. I am very independent.

Is there a book, essay, film, or something else you would recommend to someone who wants to understand your political philosophy?

The Republican Platform and the Bible to start with.

What characteristics or principles are most important for an elected official?

First, do no harm. The principles that I use as the basis for all my decisions are those God given principles given to us in scripture.

What qualities do you possess that you believe would make you a successful officeholder?

Honest, caring, consistant, compassionate, balanced, hard working, principled and generous.

What do you believe are the core responsibilities for someone elected to this office?

The first responsibility is to be accessible to the people you represent. We must actively listen to our constituents and follow through. We need to study legislation and make informed decisions. We must be in committee during committee hearings and be on the floor for debate and voting. We need to set a good example for our community.

What legacy would you like to leave?

I would like to be remembered as someone who truly cared about others. Someone that said what I meant and meant what I said. Kind and thoughtful.

What is the first historical event that happened in your lifetime that you remember? How old were you at the time?

Tear down that wall! Ronald Reagan's speech June 12, 1987. I was 12 years old and everyone was so happy that all those people were finally free of such an oppressive government.

What was your very first job? How long did you have it?

Little Eden Childcare Center. I worked there through high school and college for about eight years.

What is your favorite book? Why?

Redeeming Love by Francine Rivers because it tells the story of God's love no matter what we do, but it is a wonderful love story also.

What was the last song that got stuck in your head?

Amazing Grace!

What is something that has been a struggle in your life?

Accepting defeat. I work really hard to be successful and struggle with thinking I could have done more.

What do you believe is the ideal relationship between the governor and state legislature?

I believe the ideal relationship should involve communication and meetings before the legislative session begins each year in which we discuss all issues relevant to Missouri. We should continue to establish priorities for the state and keep all lines of communication open at all times. I believe in an open door policy and encourage anyone to share their thoughts and issues with me anytime.

What do you perceive to be your state's greatest challenges over the next decade?

The rising cost of living and taxation, and federal government overreach.

What are the benefits and drawbacks of a unicameral state legislature, in your opinion?

Our founding fathers established a bicameral government because it creates checks and balances needed for effective government. The drawbacks of unicameral rule is too much power in just a few positions. The longer process of two chambers like Missouri with a House and a Senate provides for more time to completely vet the proposed legislation and weed out the potential problems. It also allows the citizens to have more influence in the process.

Do you believe that it’s beneficial for state legislators to have previous experience in government or politics?

No! We are to be a government of the people, by the people and for the people. State legislators should be from different occupations and represent all Missourians.

Do you believe it’s beneficial to build relationships with other legislators? Please explain your answer.

Yes we must have good working relationships with other legislators for the process to work effectively and best represent all of Missouri.

What process do you favor for redistricting?

Bipartisan

If you are not a current legislator, are there certain committees that you would want to be a part of?

I am a current legislator and when elected into the Senate I would like to work on Appropriations, Education, and Health and Pensions.

If you are a current legislator, what appealed to you about your current committees?

I have worked in healthcare for 26 years so that is what I have the most knowledge about. I am very passionate about protecting children and families therefore, I work on the Children and Family committee.

Is there a particular legislator, past or present, whom you want to model yourself after?

No

Are you interested in running for a different political office (for example, the U.S. Congress or governor) in the future?

No

Both sitting legislators and candidates for office hear many personal stories from the residents of their district. Is there a story that you’ve heard that you found particularly touching, memorable, or impactful?

Yes, I have heard many stories of vaccine injuries and problems with getting exemptions from vaccines in order for parents to enroll their children in school. A father told me that he had a perfectly healthy daughter with no previous health problems. He took her to the doctor for her 18 month old vaccinations and she immediately started having seizures. She is four years old and still has over 200 seizures a day. He has taken her to every specialist he can and no one can stop the seizures. He now gives her THC to help minimize the effects of the seizures. Now he has a second daughter and refused to vaccinate her for very good reason.

Should the legislature oversee or grant the use of emergency powers?

Yes, We have seen through the COVID pandemic that the use of emergency powers have been abused and we need more oversight. Or at least shorter limits on the length of time they are used without legislative oversight.

Do you believe that compromise is necessary or desirable for policymaking?

Yes compromise is always necessary with more than one person involved, especially when it will effect an entire state. We must remain principled and focused but bringing all those involved in the outcome to the table is important.
