Syed has been a Beaverton resident for fifteen years. He has three kids that were born in the Portland Metro area ranging from middle school to elementary age who keep each other very busy.

He was born and raised in Karachi, Pakistan and moved to the United States almost 25 years ago. He graduated from Portland State University and works at a Fortune 100 company as a Technical Consultant guiding organizations on their technology journey by bringing together people, processes and technology. Syed has been a civically engaged community member in Beaverton for many years. He started his journey in public service by volunteering on the Beaverton Inclusive Housing Cohort to help guide the city’s code and policy towards creating more equitable housing and structures that meet the needs of Beaverton’s increasingly diverse community. Syed helped organize and create the framework for the Beaverton Climate Action Task Force which led to significant shifts at how the city tackles sustainability.

Syed promises to be accessible, lead efforts in transparency and accountability while ensuring the Beaverton School District move with fiscal sustainability in mind - partnering with Beaverton families and community.

Whether it's hearing from a community member or learning from an educator or staff members about process, the office holder must hear the diverse perspectives, bring a strong problem-solving attitude and propel decision making forward.
A school board member must always begin with listening - this individual brings a balanced perspective of understanding how the systems and community can connect to ensure students can succeed.
