Sylvia Laughter was a member of the Arizona House of Representatives from 1999 – 2004. She served as a Democrat until changing her party affiliation to Independent on February 14, 2003.[1]

Laughter was a Democratic candidate for District 2 of the Arizona State Senate. The primary election was on August 24, 2010, and the general election was on November 2.

Laughter's opponents in the August 24 primary election were Gloria Hale Showalter, Jack C. Jackson, Jr., and Kee Allen Begay, Jr.. She was defeated by Jack C. Jackson, Jr..[2]
