Sylvia Sieve Hendon was a judge on the Ohio First District Court of Appeals.[1] She was elected to the court in November 2004 and re-elected in 2010. Her final term ended on February 8, 2017.[2] Hendon was ineligible to run for re-election in 2016 because she reached the state's mandatory retirement age of 70.[3]

Education

Hendon received her undergraduate degree from Xavier University in 1965 and her J.D. from the Salmon P. Chase College of Law in 1975.[2]

Career

Hendon spent the first three years of her career as a private practice lawyer. She then served as a referee in the Hamilton County Court of Common Pleas, Juvenile Division from 1979 until 1983 (for the last year, she was the chief referee). In November 1983, Hendon was elected to the Hamilton County Municipal Court. She was appointed to serve as judge of the Hamilton County Court of Common Pleas, Juvenile Division in January 1993, where she served as the presiding judge from 1998 until her election to the Ohio First District Court of Appeals in 2004.[2]

Hendon was re-elected to the Ohio First District Court of Appeals. She ran unopposed in the Republican primary. She defeated Martha Good in the general election, receiving 60 percent of the vote.[4]
