I am TaKasha Francis, a proud Houston native, bringing nearly two decades of extensive and diverse legal experience as a trial lawyer. I earned my degrees from Texas Southern University in 1999 and Thurgood Marshall School of Law in 2003. Commencing my legal journey in the public sector, I served as an Assistant Attorney General in the Child Support Division at the Office of the Attorney General of Texas from 2004 to 2011. Later, I established The Francis Firm P.C., specializing in Family Law and Civil litigation.

In 2016, I transitioned from private practice to accept a mayoral appointment by Mayor Sylvester Turner. Confirmed unanimously by the Houston City Council, I assumed the role of Director of the City of Houston Department of Neighborhoods. My diverse professional background as an attorney and public servant uniquely qualifies me to serve as the judge of the 152nd Civil District Court.

My experiences in both fields deepen my understanding of everyday people and their experiences. Upholding high ethical standards, I prioritize fairness and maintain an even temperament. Proficient in thoroughly analyzing, interpreting, and applying the law, I make well-reasoned decisions based on both legal principles and the facts presented in each case.

  • Fairness is a cornerstone of the rule of law and judges are tasked with interpreting and applying the law impartially, without favoritism or bias. I will ensure fairness in the legal process by treating everyone with respect, basing my decisions on the applicable laws and legal principles, and interpreting and applying the law without bending it to suit personal preferences.
  • Court Efficiencies and Innovation At times, dealing with the legal system can be slow and confusing, leading to delays and frustration for both lawyers and those involved in legal cases. I plan to examine existing processes to find ways to make things better, remove unnecessary steps, and develop practical solutions for implementation to enhance efficiency. I also intends to harness technology to provide better access and efficiency without compromising the fairness of the legal process.
  • Community Engagement In our community, there's a lack of awareness about the inner workings of the court system and the legal rights that individuals have. I am dedicated to demystifying the courthouse experience, bridging the gap between the community and the government. I will achieve this through outreach efforts, educational initiatives, and civic engagement. I will champion and pioneer programs promoting civic education, pro bono services, and resource allocation for those in need. Actively participating in relevant discussions and activities, I seek to contribute to the overall improvement of public services and legal understanding.
The first area involves prioritizing equity and accessibility within our judicial system. Everyone, regardless of background, should have the right to access legal proceedings. As a judge, I'll ensure fair treatment, simplify processes, address bias, engage in outreach, and leverage technology for a more accessible and efficient legal system.

The second area is a lack of civic engagement and legal knowledge in communities. I aim to demystify the courthouse experience through outreach and educational initiatives, bridging the gap between the community and the government. Namely, I will champion programs that promote civic education and pro bono services to contribute to an informed and engaged community.
Wonder Woman. Hands down! She is the perfect combination of a beauty and a beast! Smart, fearless, and powerful, she resonates with me as a symbol of justice, equality, and empowerment. Trained in combat and blessed with superhuman strength, Wonder Woman is a formidable force. Her iconic weapons, including indestructible bracelets and the Lasso of Truth, add to her awe-inspiring persona, and my childhood re-enactments with family members. I connect with Wonder Woman as she embodies a balance of grace and might, making her a timeless and empowering character committed to justice.
I aspire to serve on this bench as a meaningful extension of my role as a public servant, aiming to be the positive change I wish to see. Judges, as public servants, hold a vital community role, making decisions that impact lives, resolving disputes, and upholding the law. My objective is to bridge the gap between the legal system and the public, fostering a better understanding of the law within the community.

I also want to improve judicial efficiency by improving existing processes to remove unnecessary steps, integrate technology to provide better access and efficiency, and develop practical solutions for implementation to enhance efficiency.

Judges must grasp the real-life impact of their decisions and strive to alleviate unnecessary hardships. My candidacy is rooted in a profound commitment to justice, fairness, and the rule of law. With a diverse background as an attorney and public servant, I possess a deep understanding of people's experiences. This unique perspective allows me to bring innovative ideas to the bench, offering a fresh approach to legal issues and improving efficiency for all involved in the legal process.
The Honorable Sylvester Turner (62nd Mayor of the City of Houston) has endorsed me and is the campaign's honorary chair, Houston Black American Democrats, Black Women of Greater Houston PAC, and additional endorsements are pending review.
