Tamara Von Gemmingen
Tamara Von Gemmingen was a 2012 Republican candidate for District 20 of the Alaska House of Representatives.
Campaign themes
2012
Von Gemmingen's campaign website listed the following issues:[1]
- Healthcare
- Excerpt: "We need a system that assists those who need access to quality healthcare, but not one with hidden or unnecessary charges that raise the costs for others. A healthy family has children who do well in school and parents who are productive. When I get to Juneau I will push for an audit of our Medicaid system to see what is truly happening in this state."
- Low Income Residents
- Excerpt: "We have to use our resources wisely to help those who can work, find work. Those who need training or retraining, get that training. We have many resources those in need don’t know exist. Let’s find a better way of matching needs with solutions before we spend more money."
- Construction
- Excerpt: "We need to continue to grow the construction trades by authorizing those projects we already know are needed. We can keep those in the industry working by just repairing the roads and buildings we already know we need to maintain. Tackling our backlog of deferred maintenance projects will create jobs and make these roads and buildings safer for everyone."
- Mining
- Excerpt: "Alaska has an incredible wealth of untapped mineral resources. We need to do everything we can to encourage the safe development of mining as another method of easing our dependence on oil."
- Public Safety
- Excerpt: "We need to ensure women and children are safe from abusive relationships. There should never be any question on funding shelters. We need more funding for the Troopers and a review of the laws that hamper them in the Bush. We need to keep pushing on unsafe drivers who spend more time paying attention to their conversations on the phone than to driving."
