I was born and raised in Southern California. My mom was a public school educator and my father was a postal worker. My parents stressed the importance of education, so much so, that I graduated from high school at 16 years old. I attended the University of California at Los Angeles, (UCLA), then moved to Arizona to attend the University of Arizona College of Law. I graduated from law school in 1990 and have been privileged to serve Arizonans my entire 34 year legal career, as a chief prosecutor, defense attorney and Pro Tem judge. I am the only Maricopa County Candidate and if elected, the only County Attorney that has a global criminal law perspective.
  • Protecting and Preserving Women’s Reproductive Healthcare choices. As Maricopa County Attorney, I will not prosecute a woman, her healthcare provider, nor the pharmacists who assist her in exercising her reproductive healthcare rights.
  • Keeping our Communities Safe by separating those from society who are charged with violent and victim crimes; addressing veteran’s issues, such as homelessness, mental illness and addiction as health issues, rather than criminal issues that require prosecution.
  • Fair and Equitable Justice. As County Attorney, I am committed to ensuring that justice is served for everyone, and that prosecutorial decisions are not made for political reasons.
As County Attorney, I am personally passionate about preserving and protecting women's reproductive healthcare rights, ensuring fair and equitable justice; and keeping our communities safe.
I look up to my mother. As a public school educator, she stressed the importance of education and being a strong woman. Her strength was fully exhibited, when my parents suddenly divorced and she was left to become a single mother of two young girls. Despite her extreme grief, she remained strong and continued to provide a loving and stable home.
Integrity, honesty and the ability to relate to the citizens who have elected you are important characteristics for an elected official.
I pride myself on possessing the qualities that I mentioned above that are necessary for an elected official; namely honesty, integrity, experience and empathy. I have been fortunate to practice law in Arizona for 34 years, as a chief prosecutor, defense attorney and a judge. In my both my personal and professional life, I have always striven to treat people the way I expect to be treated.
I would like to have made a difference in someone's life. Being a female, I would like young women to see what I have been able to accomplish in life and realize that if I can do it, they can too!
The first historical event that happened during my lifetime was when my sister was born. I was 3and half years old. I remember my parents coming home, laying her on the foot of the bed and opening the blanket for me to peer in!! My life was forever changed!!
My very first job was as a server at the Sizzler restaurant in Westwood, California! I had this job for 2 years while I attended UCLA.
The only joke I have remembered consistently over the years...."What do you call a fly without wings?....a walk!"

Financial transparency, disclosure of corporate and/or special interest contributions are critical for government accountability. Citizens should know who is paying/influencing their representatives decisions.
