Simendinger's website highlighted the following campaign themes:[1]
Education
- Excerpt: "Having access to education and safe classrooms must be a priority for our kids. The average age of a school building in the Southwest School District is 55 years old. Yet, no one wants to pay more taxes. We must ensure that our tax dollars are used responsibly to help our schools."
Taxes
- Excerpt: "Now with the local governments having a shortfall many entities are placing additional tax levies on the ballots. Hence we are paying additional taxes for the services that we paid for the first time. We do need additional levies, we need our local government fund tax money back from Columbus."
Jobs
- Excerpt: "Too many mothers and fathers working 2 jobs just to make ends meet. We need to look at the tax incentives that we give companies and make sure that if we are giving them a tax break, we are getting good paying employment in return. We need to make sure that deal will benefit the community and the people who live in it."
