As a long-time resident of McKinney, I am seeking to bring strong leadership to District 3, ensuring trust and open communication between the council and its citizens by listening, supporting, and solving problems effectively and efficiently.

  • McKinney has always been a safe place, but we can do better. Let's give our first responders everything they need to be successful and top notch. Let's partner with the police on a strong abatement program, shutting down businesses, homes, and apartments that have criminal activity. We need robust enforcement to get the crime out of McKinney.
  • We have to expand our commercial tax base. We are $6.5B short of revenue each year in restaurant/retail income, up $4B in the last 10 years. Expanding our commercial tax base will help ease the tax burden in McKinney. We also need to attract corporate offices here to help with property taxes and offer good jobs to residents, all boosting the economy.
  • Housing is a big issue in McKinney. We need to get back to building single family homes that are attainable by the middle class. Our population grew by 35% from 2012-2021 but our multi-family units grew by 110%, putting a strain on schools, first responders, and our natural resources. We also have over half of all the low income housing units in Collin County, incentivized by tax exemptions. Before 2024 we had 923 tax exempt units. Since 2024 we've added 1121 tax exempt units. We need to bring back McKinney's charm and allow our neighbors to the west and south to provide low income housing to Collin County residents, instead of taking on the burden ourselves.

District 3 is the established part of McKInney -- the lovely historical homes and the homes built abouto 30 years ago. Most homeowners have invested their lives, income, and families here and have a valuable stake in the future of this community AND they remember how wonderful McKinney can be. Their voice is the solid and steady voice of the community.

I look up to my dad, and beyond that his family legacy. I am proud of my family's heritage in Texas -- we have a county named after us and the Texas Star came from my 3rd great grandfather. Leadership is in our blood. My dad was no exception -- as a Baptist pastor he baptized thousands and thousands of people, and later in life started a volunteer organization that now has millions of people working in it throughout the country. He traveled the globe doing good and he genuinely loved people. I hope I can do some good in my corner of the world, and that people will remember that I cared about them.

An ear to the ground of what the voters want. Be involved, listen, talk to them, and support them. That is lacking in the current seat.

To listen, be compassionate, and work hard to solve the problems that arise. Direct people to the appropriate resource. Realize you are a public servant, not a ruler over people.

Good governance - open communication, transparency, and accountability. Always strive to do the right thing, but admit when you're wrong.

Isn't that what we're supposed to be about? If we're not financially transparent and accountable, why serve? We need to keep our government's feet to the fire, and set the high bar ourselves as elected officials.

McKinney has a unique place in the world. As the seat of Collin County -- which is the most active political county in Texas -- we have a torch to bear. We need to be the most conservative city in the most conservative county in the most conservative state, and set the example for fiscal responsibility and good governance.

County Judge Chris Hill, State Rep. Matt Shaheen, Retired Judge George Flint, SBOE VP Pam Little, Commissioner Darrell Hale, Commissioner Cheryl Williams, Councilman Charlie Philips, Former Councilman Chuck Branch, Constable Steve Asher, Constable Matt Carpenter, Keep McKinney Unique PAC, McKinney Values PAC, Collin County Citizens for Integrity, Collin County Republican Assembly, and many other private citizens.

Not political philosophy but I will say Lone Star is the best book on Texas history - highly recommend it! It tells the story of Texas in a way no one else has.
