Tanya Cook is a member of the Metropolitan Utilities District Board of Directors in Nebraska, representing Subdivision 5. Cook assumed office in 2019. Cook's current term ends on January 5, 2027.
Cook ran for re-election to the Metropolitan Utilities District Board of Directors to represent Subdivision 5 in Nebraska. Cook won in the general election on November 3, 2020.
Cook is a former Democratic member of the Nebraska State Senate, representing District 13 from 2009 to 2017.[1] Cook did not seek re-election to the Nebraska State Senate in 2016 because she was term-limited.
Cook's political experience includes serving on the staff of Ben Nelson, the staff of Brenda Council during her runs for city council and mayor, on the Wells Fargo Bank Community Advisory Board, and on the Governor's Omaha Advisory Council for Lead Safe.
Biography
Cook earned her bachelor's degree in International Business from Georgetown University in 1986, and her M.A. in Training and Development from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln in 1994. Her professional experience includes working as the Director of Urban Affairs in the governor's office, in the administration of former New York City Mayor David Dinkins, at the NW Ayer Advertising Agency, and as president of City Girl Communications.[2]

Elections for the Nebraska State Senate were held in 2016. The primary election took place on May 10, 2016. The general election was held on November 8, 2016. The candidate filing deadline was February 16, 2016, for incumbents. Challengers were required to file by March 1, 2016.[3] Incumbent Tanya Cook did not seek re-election because of term-limits.
Justin Wayne defeated Jill Brown in the Nebraska State Senate District 13 general election.[4][5]
