  • Excerpt: "We need to get Connecticut working again. Far too many people are still unemployed and too many small businesses face an uncertain future."

Transportation

  • Excerpt: "Connecticut's roads are ranked the worst in the nation and Metro North has clearly failed its customers. Connecticut needs to get its transportation house in order. We must make transportation infrastructure decisions based on need, demand and value, not on politics."

Taxes & Spending

  • Excerpt: "One of the most critical functions of our state government is to establish the appropriate level of spending and taxes to provide necessary state services. When government gets this responsibility wrong, individuals and businesses are burdened with unnecessarily high taxes."

Education

  • Excerpt: "I am troubled by the State’s abrupt move to the Common Core Standards. It is clear that mistakes were made in the implementation of the program, but it is also evident to me that many of the fundamentals of the Common Core must be challenged."

Property Tax Reform

Elections for the Connecticut House of Representatives consisted of a primary election on August 12, 2014, and a general election on November 4, 2014. The signature filing deadline for candidates wishing to run in this election was June 10, 2014. Tara Cook-Littman was unopposed in the Democratic primary, while Laura Devlin was unopposed in the Republican primary. Cook-Littman was defeated by Devlin in the general election.[2][3]
