AN IDAHO NATIVE: Tara Pugmire grew up in Meridian in a family of 5 children. She graduated from Centennial High School & attended college at NNU in Nampa where she played college basketball. She is a strong and energetic mother of 5 children, willing to step up and fight for what she believes. She's passionate for Idaho youth, and a defender of educational flexibility & parental rights.

Prior to having children, Tara worked for a number of years at detention centers, group homes, and in the psychological unit at Intermountain Hospital working with struggling teens.

During COVID-19 shut downs, Tara co-founded a “micro-pod school” for 3rd-5th graders, creating a hands on/project based model. She also organized service projects in the community to serve with the students of the "pod" and participated in weekly hands on field trips.

Tara has a love for horses since child-hood. Later, while attending university in Utah and working at a group home for teens, Tara helped develop a horse therapy program.

Currently, she is a Certified Equine Specialist where she combines her love for horses and her love of youth by offering Healing Trauma With Horses & Other Holistic Methods.

Nearly 10 years ago, Tara received her concealed carry permit after taking a gun safety course. Through the years, Tara supplemented the family as a professional photographer.

Tara and her husband Brandon have owned and run a small business in Meridian for over 20 years and employ 14
  • Faith, Family, Freedom
  • Limit federal powers and return power to the states
  • Educational Choice and Flexibility
Tara is passionate about bridging the gap between parents/students and government. For example, she's currently working with The state and individual districts in implementing systems to take advantage of existing, yet unknown laws that offer additional opportunities for students to earn credits they didn't know where possible. Tara is excited to offer innovative ideas to help schools and families adapt to current challenges. She's an advocate for teachers and believes in wisely investing in education.

She believes strongly in individual rights and limited government!
Tara's grandfather was involved in civic government as a PTO president and later as Canyon County Commissioner. He once wrote: "Be conscious of the governmental process and more importantly, be part of an influence in your communities."
Prior to having children, Tara worked for a number of years at detention centers, group homes, and in the psychological unit at Intermountain Hospital working with struggling teens.
Ideally the governor will have the same goals, ideals and agendas as his state legislature.
Real progress happens incrementally. Just as football games are in large part won yard by yard, so will forward progress in policymaking.
