I was born and raised in Halifax County, North Carolina to working class parents who instilled a strong work ethic in me and my siblings. I have committed my life to public service and joined the Army National Guard at the age of 17 before graduating from Weldon High School. I served for 12 years rising to the rank of sergeant. At an early age I knew I wanted to be a State Trooper and was determined to pursue my passion. I was able to attain my goal in January 2000. I have committed 28 years to law enforcement, working as a campus police officer in Jamestown as well as a narcotics officer with the Halifax County Sheriff's Office before the NC State Highway Patrol. I have also served as a fitness instructor for the Highway Patrol and Halifax Community College's Basic Law Enforcement Training program.

I have an Associate of Arts Degree in Criminal Justice, a Bachelor of Science Degree in International and Comparative Criminal Justice and another Bachelor's degree in Business Organization. I have been a Warren County commissioner since 2014 and served as chairman of the board for four years. I was elected 2nd Vice president of the North Carolina Association of County Commissioners and will be sworn in this summer as the President of the association.

My wife Monica, a middle school mathematics teacher, and I live in Warren county and have four children: Tiare, Tare, Jr., Mayah and Meagan.
  • A major priority is education: prioritizing teachers and schools and providing opportunities for our youth.
  • It is my goal to promote economic stability for working and middle class families.
  • Common sense legislation and protecting the rule of law is a primary tenet of my governance.
Areas of public policy that I am most passionate about are public service, support of infrastructure and economic needs for Eastern North Carolina, education, and protection of natural resources.
I look up to my parents. They are my role models. They taught me the values of life, how to work hard, and to set and attain my goals.
A primary principle important for an elected official is providing a government that works for all people. The first three words of our constitution are "We the People' which signifies a government that encompasses all people; a government of the people, by the people, and for the people...Abraham Lincoln.
A core responsibility for someone elected to this office is being physically responsible for public assets.
