August 13, 2010

Abilene, Texas: Taylor County Judge George Newman has announced his retirement. Although his current term is through December 31, 2010, he has decided to step down on September 30th of this year. He announced this decision on August 13th, although no formal paperwork had been filed at the time.

Downing Bolls, the Taylor County human resource director and Republican, is already planning to run for the position in the November general election. There is currently no Democratic challenger. In the meantime, Taylor County Commissioners could appoint a replacement if they so decide.[1]
