Taylor is a lifelong resident of the District 8, a progressive community builder, and a working mother of two young children. She is a proud graduate of local public school system (JCPS) who has dedicated her career to helping marginalized students get access to higher education. She spends her free time with her family at their street's pocket park, Beechwood Park, and serves on both the board of the Tyler Park Neighborhood Association and the Bloom Elementary PTA. She is a graduate of the Emerge KY program and advocates for women in politics whenever she can. She is running for this office because she wants to serve the constituents of District 8 by listening, learning, and showing up, not to use the office as a political stepping stone. She knows that neighborhoods wield the most power when they work collectively and looks forward to building our community together as the next District 8 council member.
  • I’m dedicated to supporting initiatives for equity and justice for all Louisville residents, and representing a demographic that is currently missing on the council.
  • I believe in environmental justice. District 8 is already a leader in environmental sustainability but I will make sure that green living remains a top priority.
  • Our city has an affordable housing crisis. I will work to remedy this by making sure our mayor's plan to build 15,000 affordable housing units are truly affordable, voting no on TIFs unless they include affordable housing, and prevent the destruction of currently existing affordable housing.
I am passionate about creating and sustaining affordable housing, reinvesting our city's budget in an infrastructure of care instead of giving more funds to our city's carceral systems, and advocating for more accessible policy for sustainable living.
A Metro Council member should reflect the values and desires of the District they serve by staying in continual communication with those constituents. Engaging directly with neighbors by attending neighborhood group meetings, holding weekly office hours, and hosting monthly events are just some of the way I plan to engage with my community. Additionally, Council members should put service at the center of their job and they or their legislative aide should be available for neighbors at all times.
I worked in the concession stand at Lakeside Swim Club and worked there all through high school. My favorite thing to order was a PLOTCH bagel--if you know, you know!
