My name is Taylor Woodrum, I am a 20 year old Political Science major at Oklahoma State University in Tulsa. I was born and raised in Tulsa and I love this city. I got into politics around 2008 at the age of nine. I recall my dad explaining how elections worked as the results came in online. This sparked my interest in elections and government as a whole. Later, when I attended The University of Oklahoma my love for liberty had a kick start moment. I was on my way to class wearing a Donald Trump USA hat when a kid came up to me and pushed me off my bike while taking and throwing my hat into the street. I confronted him and he told me that I had no right to wear a Trump hat because it was wrong. When I asked if he knew what the first amendment was he blew it off and said that we needed to be more like Australia and not have freedom of speech. It was at this moment that I realized what I wanted to do. This interaction made me realize that I want to protect and restore liberty in our state. So, when I transferred to the University of Tulsa I started a club called Young Americans for Liberty. I created it so that liberty minded people who wanted to protect the Constitution and fight for government responsibility would have a nonpartisan club to be a part of. Now I am the Oklahoma Recruitment Director for Young Americans for Liberty and I am running for state house. Personally I am a young new age conservative looking to bring valued conservatives ideas to district 70.
- Protect and restrore individual liberty in Oklahoma.
- Protect and defend the Second Amendment in Oklahoma.
- Protect and restore parental rights in Oklahoma.
I am personally passionate about the Second Amendment and Abortion. I believe that the right to bear arms must be protected at all costs, and that abortion is over-reach and the taking of a life.
If there is a quality I have always possessed it is work ethic. From ice hockey, to golf, to college, I have learned how to use my time wisely and effectively. I want to hit the ground running and make real positive change for district 70 and Oklahoma.
To be HONEST to their constituents on everything from legislation to person beliefs. I think this is a huge one because the current representative is not honestly showing who she is to her constituents, which is why I am running.
I would like my legacy to be simple. That I did what I could for my fellow man so that we may live from an overreaching governments rule.
The first historical event I have a clear memory of was Obama's election in 2008. I was nine years old at the time.
My very first job was with Wal-Mart as a cashier. I was there maybe six months and moved on to bigger and better things after that!
My relationship with my mother. She has been a hard drug addict since I was young and it is still something she struggles with today. I am not as active in her life as I wish but God has a plan and he will guide us.
COVID-19, Unemployment, Energy Crisis, and education to name a few. Economically the energy sector is hurting our state right now, but personally I believe that our children are being failed by our state. which is a major challenge we must overcome.
A friendly one where they work together. Currently we are in a time of crisis and our governor and legislature need to have constant communication regarding upcoming legislation and potential legislation. Having a strong relationship will ensure that necessary legislation is passed quickly and effectively.
Yes! Two minds are always better than one! If we work with all oklahomans we can come up with legislation to benefit everyone.
I don't see myself wanting to be in party leadership. I want to do good for the people of my district and Oklahoma, not necessarily the party.
