Taymour was born in Broward County, Florida. His hobbies include water sports, boxing, and traveling. He is a licensed lifeguard and a proud dog-owner. Most importantly, Taymour envisions a Florida where Floridians and small businesses thrive, where Floridians are able to afford quality Healthcare and prescription medications, where Florida's children are receiving the best public and vocational education they could receive, and where Flordia's air, lands, and waters are protected from the effects of climate change and pollution. Born to a hard-working family, his parents started their small business from scratch and worked 7-days a week. From an early age, Taymour and his two brothers experienced the challenges of owning a small business and helped out on the family business whenever they could. Growing up in Florida, Taymour also witnessed the catastrophic effects of climate change and vowed to fight for the lives and livelihoods of Floridians for now and for generations to come. Taymour and his family's hard work paid off when Taymour graduated with a Bachelor's degree in Agricultural Sciences at the University of Florida. Now as a small-business owner himself, Taymour understands the trials that family businesses face and the impact that climate change has on millions of Florida's small-businesses and seeks to bring about change for the better.
  • Florida's climate is changing. Severe weather, retreating shores, harmful algae blooms and rising sea levels are major threats to Floridians and Florida's agriculture and tourism. That is why I support the Florida Climate & Economic Defense Initiative, which calls for comprehensive action on climate change.
  • Florida's teachers and students deserve better. That is why I support increasing teacher pay to strengthen the teaching pipeline, expanding quality public and vocational education, and fixing funding gaps to public schools.
  • Florida is the state for small businesses. Small businesses support half of Florida's entire economy and create about 75% of net new jobs. That is why I am dedicated to supporting small businesses by providing resources and expertise, expanding access to loans, and encouraging rural entrepreneurship. We can further help small businesses by investing into rebuilding infrastructure, expanding public transportation and the renewable energy sector to create more high-paying jobs, while meeting sustainability standards.
Environmental protections, supporting small businesses and creating jobs, expanding quality public and vocational education, raising teacher pay, and increasing access to quality healthcare
Elected officials must be responsive to their constituents and responsible for the state as a whole.
Over the next decade, climate change, the education system, and the healthcare system will be some of Florida's greatest challenges. Florida's climate is getting increasingly worse - more and more severe hurricanes are hitting our state, sea levels are rising, toxic algae blooms are spreading and they are threatening the lives and livelihoods of all Floridians. The education system in Florida also needs reform - we need to address teacher shortages and improve the quality of public education for Florida's children. Florida's healthcare system is in dire need of improvement - we need to expand healthcare coverage and provide affordable and quality healthcare.
The legislature is primarily responsibility is to act as a balance between the governor and their citizens, acting as an independent body and making independent decisions. The legislature must effectively convey the needs of the public to the governor in the form of appropriations/legislation, and at times in the form of deliberation to finalize appropriations or enact legislation. The governor should establish priorities and goals in conjunction with the legislature.
As in my experiences in running a small business, relationship building is critical to becoming a resource for the community. Any knowledge gained through working collaboratively with legislators can be relayed back to the community through communal or town meetings. Increased exposure to other legislators can also improve one's personal standing and lead to the development of skills such as drafting policy and negotiation.
