Ted Christian, a seasoned Republican presidential operative, was the Pennsylvania state director for Donald Trump's 2016 presidential campaign.[1]
Career
Ted Christian's early political work included time as a field staffer for former New Jersey Gov. Christine Todd Whitman's (R) 1997 re-election campaign.[2] He also served as the executive director of the Republican Party of New Jersey in 1999 in addition to working in a number of private sector industries early in his career. According to his bio with Duane Morris Government strategies, Christian has been a consultant for IBM and Comcast. His resume also includes time with the National Republican Congressional Committee as a field representative.[3]
Christian has also worked on a number of electoral campaigns in Pennsylvania. In 2004, he worked on President George W. Bush's (R) re-election campaign and was a staffer for former U.S. Sen. Rick Santorum's (R-Pa.) re-election campaign in 2006.[4]
During the 2008 election cycle, Christian was the Pennsylvania state director for John McCain's (R) presidential campaign. According to Politico, Christian worked under the supervision of Jon Seaton.[5]

Christian initially worked with Trump's presidential campaign during the primary elections as the deputy state director and strategist during the state's delegate races in the primary election.[1] In June 2016, Politico reported that there was "scant evidence of any Trump-driven ground organization" in the state.[6] The Philadelphia Inquirer initially reported Christian's hire on June 29, 2016.[7]
In July 2016, the Allentown Morning Call reported that Trump's Pennsylvania campaign would rely heavily on Republican Party infrastructure in the state. The paper reported, "The RNC and state party expect to lead the organizing and volunteer efforts, ... relying on existing networks of county-level GOP activists, and reaching out to attendees of Trump events, using lists of registrants provided by the Trump campaign."[8]
