Ted Dunlap was the Libertarian candidate for governor of Montana in the 2016 election. He was defeated by incumbent Steve Bullock (D) in the general election on November 8, 2016.

He was also the 2010 Libertarian candidate for governor of Idaho. He previously ran for governor in 2006, and was a candidate for the Idaho House of Representatives in 2004 and 2002. Dunlap has served as Executive Director, Chairman and Editor for the Libertarian Party of Idaho.

Dunlap attended Sonoma State University and Santa Rosa Junior College. He has worked as a Supervisor for the Hewlett Packard Corporation, Chief Executive Operator of Soil Food Corporation, a Technician with Sonoma Water Engineering, and Owner/Operator of The Gentleman Farmer.[1]

Dunlap filed to run as a Libertarian for governor of Montana in 2016 with running mate and lieutenant governor candidate Ron Vandevender. The two competed in the November 8 general election with incumbent Democratic Governor Steve Bullock and his running mate, Mike Cooney; Republican Greg Gianforte and his running mate, Lesley Robinson; and independents Casey Filler and Christopher Zarcone.

Incumbent Steve Bullock & Mike Cooney defeated Greg Gianforte & Lesley Robinson, Ted Dunlap & Ron Vandevender, Casey Filler, and Christopher Zarcone in the Montana governor election.

Dunlap faced Republican incumbent Butch Otter and Democratic Keith Allred in the general election on November 2, 2010. Dunlap lost to Otter.
