Biography

Theodore Engquist was born in Fort Atkinson, Wisconsin. He attended Indiana Bible College. His professional experience includes working as the Hampton Roads regional quality coordinator for VDOT and serving as a licensed minister.

Who are you? Tell us about yourself.

Ted Engquist is a conservative Republican who believes that all people are created equal and needs to be treated as such. The Constitution was written for all of our freedom and needs to be preserved. This can only be accomplished when as Martin Luther King said "An individual has not started living until they can rise above the narrow confines of their individualistic concerns to the broader concerns of all humanity"

Please list below 3 key messages of your campaign. What are the main points you want voters to remember about your goals for your time in office?

• We need to come together in unity for the greater good of America.
• We need to preserve the Constitution
• We need to improve our education. Mandela once said "Education is the most powerful tool to change the future."

What areas of public policy are you personally passionate about?

I feel we need to be fiscally responsible, protect the sanctity of human life, and improve education.

Who are you? Tell us about yourself.

Ted Engquist (Republican Party) is running for the U.S. House of Representatives on the premise of United We Stand. Ted's conservative values and Christian principles have compelled him to do what he can to bring our nation back to being united once again. He is dedicated and passionate about helping people of all backgrounds. He, like many, is tired of seeing a nation divided by hate so he has stepped up to be an advocate for those who feel they have lost their voice. His goal is to see America unified and stand together to improve the lives of her people.

Please list below 3 key messages of your campaign. What are the main points you want voters to remember about your goals for your time in office?

• We want to preserve the constitution to ensure that all people are created equal.
• We want to see America unified in the face of racial and political division.
• We want to raise the value of education because as Nelson Mandela said, "Education is the most powerful tool to change the world".

What areas of public policy are you personally passionate about?

1. Protecting Constitutional Rights

2. Protecting the Sanctity of Human Life

3. Fiscal Responsibility

What qualities do you possess that you believe would make you a successful officeholder?

My personality is one that thrives on being with people and seeing them be happy and successful in all they do. I take pleasure in knowing that I was able to help or facilitate them in reaching their goals. As a politician, I will use my tenacity, passion, and dedication to make sure that every voice is not just heard, but every voice has influence.

What do you perceive to be the United States’ greatest challenges as a nation over the next decade?

One of the greatest challenges that America is facing is ignorance regarding the truth of socialism. Many view socialism as a viable option for our nation; however, socialism rejects the fundamentals that this nation was founded upon such as freedom, democracy, and the ability to start small businesses. One way to assist in this endeavor is to see news media return to fact based journalism. Many articles are spun and woven to reflect the political views of the organization, resulting in biased articles of half truths and misinformation. There needs to be transparency of information and the removal of political bias from the sharing of information.

If you are not a current representative, are there certain committees that you would want to be a part of?

I would like to be apart of the House Budget Committee, Ethics Committee, and/or the Ways & Means Committee.

Do you believe that two years is the right term length for representatives?

No. I believe that four years is a valid term length with a maximum of five terms. Two years is too short to accomplish any of the promised tasks due to having to spend the second half campaigning for re-election, drawing attention away from congressional matters that need the focus of the representatives.

Both sitting representatives and candidates for office hear many personal stories from the residents of their district. Is there a story that you’ve heard that you found particularly touching, memorable, or impactful?

A few years ago, tragedy struck the York County school division. In light of this tragedy, the community came together and rallied behind the families and students who were grieving the loss of some of their own. People of all different walks of life were standing together in support for the students who lost their peers and the families who lost their loved ones. The slogan #Tabbstrong was echoed throughout the community and I will never forget the support and unity that I saw York County embrace during a time that could have divided them.
