Special election
A special election for the position of California State Assembly District 31 was called for April 5. The filing deadline for candidates wishing to run in this election was February 11.[6][7]
The seat was vacant following Henry T. Perea's (D) resignation on December 31, 2015.[8]
Joaquin Arambula (D) defeated Ted Miller (D) and Clint Olivier (R) in the special election. Since Arambula received more than 50% of vote, he avoided the runoff election that was scheduled for June 7th.[9][10]
