A Tempe Union School District Budget Override measure was on the November 6, 2012 ballot in the Tempe Union school district area which is in Maricopa County where it was defeated.
This measure proposed to allow the district a 15 percent budget override for the next school year. The district currently has a 10 percent override in place, but that would expire in 2013 and this measure would ensure that the school would still have the additional money for operations and maintenance costs. Previously school districts could only ask for a max override of 10 percent, but state laws were changed to allow for a max of 15 percent in order to further help school struggling to pay for district wide costs.[1]
