Tennessee: Former Tennessee Court of Criminal Appeals Justice J.C. McLin has passed away at age 64 after a battle with pancreatic cancer. McLin served the Shelby County Criminal Court from 2000 until 2004, when he was appointed to the Tennessee Court of Criminal Appeals the court to which he served until his death. He was only the second African American to serve that court, behind recently deceased Justice A.A. Birch. Chief Justice Cornelia Clark said, “Our judicial family is deeply saddened by the loss of Judge McLin. He was a kind man, dedicated jurist and dear friend. He served the Court with great integrity and dignity and we will miss him dearly.”[1]
