The signature filing deadline for candidates wishing to run in this election was June 3, 2014. Incumbent Scott Y. Nishimoto was unopposed in the Democratic primary, while Larie Kuulei Langi Manutai was unopposed in the Republican primary. Nishimoto defeated Manutai in the general election.[1][2][3]
