Brooks provided the following statement to the Yuma County Superintendent's office:
“ | I have been a member of Yuma Union High School Board for the last 4 years. In that time and even before, there have been many harmful cuts to educational funding, yet demands and accountability have never been higher. This combination creates a volatile and unprecedented number of budget cuts, staff reductions, and curriculum decisions to be made to keep the District solvent, fiscally compliant and a viable producer of the most educated students in Arizona and the Nation. Changes to policy and cuts to the operating budget need to be made in a creative, yet logical and reasoned manner that maintains focus on our students’ success. As a native Yuman with 25 years of experience as an educator, I have the appropriate decision-making tools to make fair, reasoned and balanced decisions while keeping our students our priority. Our students deserve the best education that we, as a community, can provide to ensure their future success. A vote for Teri Brooks means that our students ARE our priority.[3] | ” |
