I am an Art Teacher who taught for over 32 years in Central Indiana public schools. I retired from teaching in 2018 and have been employed as a paralegal in Jasper for the past two years. My husband is former Indiana State Senator and US Senate Candidate, Mike Kendall. We have 5 grown children and 4 grandchildren. I am a graduate of Indiana State University with a BS in Education and an MS in Educational Technology and Learning Theory.
  • I will support full funding of Public Schools, including an increase in Teacher pay; work to end private school vouchers and virtual Charter Schools.
  • Expand the Healthy Indiana plan to make health care insurance available to more residents of Indiana.
  • Provide incentives that will create affordable and available housing in small towns and rural areas of the state.
My passion is public education. As a teacher for over 30 years I have personally experienced the effects of poor legislation that has taken away precious funds for public schools. The very heart of cities, towns and even neighborhoods are the public schools that our state tax dollars fund. Indiana has been lagging behind in funding and support for Public Education by throwing money away on fraudulent virtual schools, funding private schools with public money and wasteful testing that does not provide useful data for schools. As a professional educator, I know that we can do better with our public funds for Education. My goal as a legislator is to bring common sense and practical knowledge to the funding process and I will work with any legislator of any party to provide equitable and adequate funding for all communities in Indiana.
