Teresa Lubbers
Teresa Lubbers (b. July 5, 1951) is a former Republican member of the Indiana State Senate, representing District 30. She served in the Senate from 1992 to 2009. She became the Indiana commissioner for higher education in 2009.[1]
Biography
Lubbers earned her B.A. in English from Indiana University in 1973. She received her M.P.A. from Harvard University, Kennedy School of Government, in 1981.
Lubbers was an English teacher at Warren Central High School from 1973 to 1974. She then worked as a public information officer for Mayor Dick Lugar from 1974 to 1975. In 1976, she was an office manager for Friends of Dick Lugar. She worked as deputy press secretary/legislative assistant for United States Senator Richard Lugar from 1976 to 1978. From 1978 to 1980, she was a legislative representative for the National Federation of Independent Business. Lubbers then worked as director of information for Incorporated Magazine from 1981 to 1982. She was also owner/public relations consultant for Capitol Communication from 1983 to 2004.
Lubbers was vice-precinct committeewoman from 1988 to 1992. She joined the Indiana State Senate in 1992. She served as assistant majority floor leader.
