Hello, my name is Teresa English and I am running for State Representative of Billerica. I am running to ensure our town is no longer overlooked and disregarded on Beacon Hill. I am a mom, Air Force veteran, and public school teacher ready to advocate for the changes needed to improve our community.

Together we are capable of anything, we just need someone to lead the way. I hope to earn your support over the course of the campaign so we can continue fighting for Billerica together.

  • It's imperative that we work together to ensure our students and teachers get the resources and state funding they need for our schools.
  • Climate change is affecting communities like Billerica with increased flooding, erosion, and volatile weather patterns. Billerica must have a seat at the table to address our neglected neighborhoods.
  • It is critical that our healthcare system works for everyone, not just for those who can afford it.

Accountability
My very first job was at the local youth baseball field. For $5 an hour, I would score keep little league games. From there I worked as a server in restaurants until joining the Air Force in 2001.
a fairy godmother - all you need is imagination and a magic wand to fix all the world's problems
I have been building relationships with current and former legislators since 2018 and will hit the ground running for Billerica.
Compromise is always needed but that doesn't mean capitulate

Teresa is a high school history teacher, veteran, and mom. She has been empowering young people for many years, focusing on executive skills and self-determination. As a dedicated public servant, she has the experience and comprehension of our government to make real changes. Her working-class upbringing and military family instilled values of service over self, integrity, and grit. Her life experiences and record of service set her apart from typical politicians. She will focus on building coalitions and uniting people for the good of Billerica and our Commonwealth.
  • For most of her life, Teresa English has been dedicated to public service. She is currently an elected Town Meeting Member, representing the people of Precinct One in Billerica Town Meeting. She also serves as a member of the Billerica Democratic Town Committee and is a founding member of Progressive Billerica.
  • Every constituent should be able to understand the legislative process and how to find how their legislators voted on various legislation. I'd say, it's our birthright to have an open and transparent government. That's why I signed the Voters Deserve to Know Pledge.
  • Economic justice means fighting for the middle class and working families of Billerica. We can only have economic justice when our rights as workers are protected.
Seniors -

I am the granddaughter of a Navy Carpenter who built bases in the Pacific during WWII; of poor tenant farmers who clung to each other during the Great Depression; a truck driver with his own business; a dental hygienist; and at least one Rosie the Riveter. Their struggles, their triumphs, and their wisdom created the woman I am today. Stories are how we preserve our humanity and our seniors are the holder of our stories.

Veterans -
During Operation Iraqi Freedom, Teresa served as an Intelligence Analyst for the Air Combat Command. Her husband Ken served with honor as a Marine Corp Ammunition Specialist. As Veterans from military families, Teresa and Ken have seen first hand what life after service can entail. Our fellow patriots are more likely to suffer from mental illness, to commit suicide, and to struggle to readjust to a civilian society. Our Veterans Administration has improved over the last 10 years but there is much more progress to be made.

Healthcare -
Healthcare is a human right and many Billerica families are struggling during this global pandemic to hold on to some kind of health insurance. COVID-19 has proven to us once and for all, we need to guarantee healthcare to everyone in the Commonwealth.

Opioid Epidemic -

The opioid epidemic continues here in Billerica and the Merrimack Valley. Substance use disorder can only be solved with support and quality health care
