I have been in private practice for over 30 years, and board certified in family law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization since 2009. I am the only candidate in this race board certified in family law. I am a member of the Texas Bar College which requires additional continuing legal education to attain and maintain membership. I’ve handled all phases of litigation from intake to trial, both jury and bench trial, and post-trial matters, including a few appeals. A case of first impression is one that presents a legal issue never before decided in Texas. I have been the trial lawyer in 3 cases of first impression in Texas family law: Stavinoha v. Stavinoha, 126 S.W.3d 604 (Tex.App.-Houston [14th Dist.] 2004, no pet.) (characterization of retirement benefits in Houston Police Officers Pension System upon divorce); Gainous v. Gainous, 219 S.W.3d 97 (Tex.App.-Houston [1st Dist.] 2006) (enforcement of award of retirement benefits in Houston Firefighters Relief & Retirement Fund to former spouse); and In re Burk, 252 S.W.3d 736 (Tex.App.-Houston [14th Dist.] 2008)(UCCJEA, child under 6 months old). I am a 2004 graduate of Leadership Houston (Class of XXII). I am a past-President of the Houston Association of Women Attorneys. I have served as the Vice-President and the Parliamentarian of the Federation of Houston Professional Women. I have been honored as a Woman of Excellence by the Federation of Houston Professional Women.
  • I believe in fairness, accountability and safety.
  • Citizens and their lawyers pay the salaries of our Harris County family law jurists. They deserve to interact with a judge who is patient, dignified and courteous when they find themselves in family law court. Every. Single. Courtroom. Day.
  • I have the temperament, demeanor and experience to run a professional family law court, the type of court one would expect to encounter in Harris County, Texas
