I’m running because I believe all students can be successful and I will help guide the district to attain this goal.

I’ve lived in Morgan Hill for 35 years and I’m the only candidate in area 3 who has over 25 years of experience working in four of our schools. My background as a teacher, librarian, union leader and treasurer makes me the best candidate.

As a parent of two children who attended and graduated from our schools, I volunteered and raised money for Home and School Clubs. I served on three School Site Councils where I reviewed and approved site budgets.

While librarian at Britton, Live Oak and Sobrato Schools, I taught hundreds of students every day. I understand that students come to us with a wide range of educational achievement and a wide range of needs. I actively participated in curriculum adoptions, textbook reviews, assessments, AP testing, and the revision of graduation requirements. I was instrumental in implementing the chromebook program at Sobrato, ensuring all students had a laptop and equal access to technology.

As a site representative and treasurer for the Federation of Teachers, I attended board meetings, and gained experience working with district plans and budgets.

  • I will advocate for responsible budgets that directly impact the classroom. We need to attract and retain excellent teachers and have smaller class sizes.
  • If elected, I will listen and seek input from all stakeholders, including students and their families, community members and school staff, before decisions are made.
  • Our schools need to identify and provide support for all students, especially those who struggle, such as LGTBQ, socio-economically disadvantaged, students of color and students with disabilities. As a board member, I will only approve policies that will be in the best interest of all of our students and schools.
We should provide all students with an excellent educational experience.

I would focus on creating a safe and healthy environment at all of our schools. We need to provide additional counselors and engage with community organizations to ensure all students have access to academic, career, and social emotional support. Students will be more successful if they are healthy, have additional academic support when needed, and have teachers that believe in them.
