Terri Hodge
Terri Hodge was a Democratic member of the Texas House of Representatives. She represented District 100 from 1996 until her resignation in February 2010.
Hodge worked as a Long Distance Operator/External Affairs/Governmental Manager with the Southwestern Bell Telephone Company from 1966-1991.
Prior to her election to the House, Hodge served on the State Democratic Executive Committee from 1994-1996, Precinct Chair from 1980-1995, and Delegate to the Democratic National Convention from 1988-1992.
She is a member of Housing Services of Texas, the League of Women Voters, Southern Christian Leadership Conference Board, Women in Government, and is President of Friends of Fair Park.[1]
Guilty of tax charges
On February 3, 2010 Hodge pleaded guilty to failing to report money and gifts she received to the IRS. The charges were the result of a corruption investigation into Dallas city government, which found that Brian and Cheryl Potashnik paid Hodge's rent and utilities. These gifts, it is alleged, were in exchange for favorable tax treatment of low income housing developed by Potashnik.
As part of her plea agreement, Hodge agreed to resign her seat in the House. She faced up to three years in prison, a $100,000 fine and restitution to the IRS.[2]
