The Judicial Update

Texas: A nonprofit organization called Voting for America has filed suit against Texas Secretary of State Hope Andrade and Galveston County Tax Assessor Cheryl Johnson, alleging that "voter registration policies in Texas, over at least the past decade, have created an environment that is hostile to voter registration."[1] The Pew Research Center recently released a nationwide study revealing that 1.8 million dead people are listed on voter registration rolls, 2.75 million people are registered to vote in more than one state, and that at least 51 million eligible Americans are not registered to vote. Voting for America alleges that Texas places excessive restrictions on volunteers who conduct voter registration drives, and that Texas' voter registration policies violate the National Voter Registration Act of 1993.[2]
