The Democratic Party adopted a platform, "Renewing America's Promise," at its presidential nominating convention in Denver, Colorado, on August 25, 2008.[1] The platform outlines policy priorities and positions on domestic and foreign affairs, but it does not have any binding effect on Democratic elected officials or candidates.
Massachusetts Gov. Deval Patrick, former New Mexico Attorney General Patricia Madrid, and former Discovery Communications Presidential Judith McHale served as co-chairs of the Platform Committee.[2]
