The Republican Party adopted a platform at its presidential nominating convention in St. Paul, Minnesota, on September 1, 2008. The platform outlines policy priorities and positions on domestic and foreign affairs, but it does not have any binding effect on Republican elected officials or candidates.
Rep. Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) and Sen. Richard Burr (N.C.) served as chairman and co-chairman, respectively, of the Platform Committee.[1]
