The Republican Party adopted a platform, "We Believe in America," at its presidential nominating convention in Tampa, Florida, on August 28, 2012. The platform outlines policy priorities and positions on domestic and foreign affairs, but it does not have any binding effect on Republican elected officials or candidates.
Former Virginia Gov. Bob McDonnell (R) was the chairman of the Platform Committee. Sen. John Hoeven (N.D.) and former Rep. Marsha Blackburn (Tenn.) served as co-chairs.[1]
