- Democratic National Committee Chair Debbie Wasserman Schultz (D-Fla.) announced her resignation from the post following “the leak of thousands of internal DNC emails by hackers, possibly in Russia, suggesting that DNC staffers had favored the frontrunner for the party’s presidential nomination, former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, over her chief rival, Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders,” according to Ballotpedia senior writer Jim Barnes. Democratic National Committee Vice Chairwoman Donna Brazile served as interim chair, and Rep. Marcia Fudge (D-Ohio) served as permanent chair of the convention.
