Theodore Katz
Theodore H. Katz was a federal magistrate judge for the United States District Court for the Southern District of New York. He served in this position from 1991 to 2012.[1] On June 1, 2012, Judge Katz retired from the bench.[2]
Education
Judge Katz received his bachelor's degree from Brandeis University in 1968 and his J.D. degree from Columbia Law School in 1973.[1]
Career
Judge Katz began his career in 1973 as a law clerk to U.S. District Judge Robert Carter of the Southern District of New York. The following year he joined the New York City Human Rights Commission as a staff attorney. In 1976, he joined the Legal Aid Society as a staff attorney. He was the Project Director for the Society's Prisoner's Rights Project from 1981 until his 1991 judicial appointment. He also serves as an adjunct faculty member for Columbia Law School.[1]
