Terri Everett is a former federal Senior Executive with substantial multi-disciplinary governance and leadership experience. She has worked in - or with - all 3 branches of government to develop and implement programs and initiatives that satisfied public policy objectives. She is a native North Carolinian whose early life began on her Grandparents' farm in Onslow County. They were strong role models who demonstrated an unwavering belief and faith in God and love of country. She was taught the importance of hard work, and the values of integrity; honor; reliability; dignity and mutual respect for others. Underpinning all this is her most important role - Mother and Grandmother. Terri is passionate about public service and is eager to leverage her experience to enhance the quality of life for each and every resident in North Carolina's 7th District.
  • I care about people and the inherent right of every human being to live their life with dignity. Enabling and fighting for that fundamental human need is the right thing for me to do; it is the moral thing for me to do; it is the just thing for me to do. I am passionate about giving back and will work hard every day in Congress to enact legislation that will strengthen our District move it forward.
  • Unity is a priority. President Lincoln said a house divided cannot stand. We are at war with a formidable enemy - COVID-19, that has taken the lives of our fellow citizens. At the same time we are at war among and between ourselves. The values that unite us are greater than the issues that divide us. I will seek consensus in an effort to find common ground on legislation that helps our District. I will seek opportunities - in the U.S. House and in our District, to promote unity and create an atmosphere that is conducive to healing the divide in our Nation. My vision for District 7 is for it to serve as a benchmark and model of Prosperity, Hope, Unity, and Stewardship for North Carolina and the Country.
  • The Oath of Office I took and administered to over 300 public servants served as my moral compass for Commitment, Loyalty, Integrity, and Allegiance to our Constitution. "I do solemly swear that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States. Against all enemies, foreign and domestic. That I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same. That I take this obligation freely, without any mental reservation or purpose of evasion. And that I will well and faithfully discharge the duties of the office on which I am about to enter. So help me God."I respect that Oath and pledge to continue to uphold it in the U.S. House, on behalf of District 7 citizens.

In the words of Ralph Waldo Emerson: To win the respect of intelligent people; to earn the appreciation of honest critics; to find beauty in others; to leave the world a bit better, whether by a healthy child; a garden patch; or a redeemed social condition; to know that one life has breathed easier because I have lived here. This is to have succeeded.
Yes. It is beneficial to understand the federal agencies, their missions, and how they interact with each other. Washington is a complex system of agencies and organizations and representatives need to know how the legislation they vote for and enact will impact - negatively or positively - agencies and their workforce. Without this basic understanding and experience, the steep learning curve makes it difficult to be effective.
