I am a mother and grandmother. I am divorced. I am a retired Nurse Administrator. I have served as Chief Nursing Officer of one of the Methodist Hospitals in Memphis. I served as Director of a Nursing school and retired from the school. I am Christian and I also serve on many Board in DeSoto County. I have received many awards for my community service.
  • DeSoto County is one of the fastest-growing counties in Mississippi. Families move here because of our strong schools, safe neighborhoods, and opportunities to build a better life. But with growth also it brings challenges. We need better infrastructure to keep up with traffic and new development.
  • We need to fully fund our schools so that every child—whether in Olive Branch, Southaven, Horn Lake, Walls or Tunica—has access to an excellent education.
  • And we need to make sure healthcare is accessible and affordable, especially for our seniors and working families.Full
Full funding for schools and better teacher pay.

Healthcare: Expanding access to Healthcare and making Healthcare more affordable.

Also make sure Mental Health services are available.
I still look up to my mother because to the values she instilled in me. She told me to always tell the truth, be honest and fair and I still stand those principles today.

The Senator should listen and also make themselves about to the constiuteints as must as possible.
Core Responsibilities of a State Senator

1. Legislating / Lawmaking

Sponsor, draft, introduce, amend, and vote on bills covering all state policy areas (education, health, environment, transportation, etc.).

Review bills proposed by others through committee work (committees are central to vetting legislation).

2. Budget & Appropriations Oversight

Participate in the process of writing, debating, and approving the state budget. Decide how funds are allocated to state agencies, programs, infrastructure, etc.

Review spending, monitor agency performance, ensure programs are delivering as intended.

3. Representation & Constituent Services

Be the voice for people in their district; understand local problems and advocate for them in state government.
Assist constituents in navigating state government (licenses, state benefits, regulatory issues).
4. Oversight & Checks and Balances

Monitor and review how state agencies implement laws. Hold hearings or inquiries when laws are not working or agencies are mismanaging.

Confirm or reject executive or judicial appointments, where state law gives the Senate that role.

5. Policy Leadership & Agenda Setting

Identify emerging problems and policy gaps, propose solutions. Set priorities based on needs, values, and evidence.

Negotiate with other legislators, stakeholders, sometimes across party lines, to build coalitions and move legislation.

6. Communication & Public Engagement

Keep constituents informed about state issues and legislative developments. Hold town halls, listen to feedback, be accessible.

Transparency: explain votes, solicit input, be accountable.
One that I served the people and made a difference for the people that I served and represented.
I was selected to be on the Debate team in high-school. We went on the TV school called knowledge Bowl.
Working as a Clerk in a store while I was in college. I kept the job for a year until my class schedule conflicted and study time did not allow me to maintain the job.
Caste: The origin of our Discontents by Isabel Wilkerson

Isabel Wilkerson’s Caste: The Origins of Our Discontents draws striking parallels between America’s social hierarchy and the rigid caste systems of India and Nazi Germany. Her analysis of how power, privilege, and prejudice are maintained over generations really resonates with what we see today — especially in how leadership, policy, and public discourse continue to reflect deep divisions and inequities.

The book is so relevant to what is happening today with our leadership in America.
I would want to be Wonder Woman because she represents courage, integrity, and the power to stand up for what’s right, even when it’s not easy. She uses her strength not to dominate, but to protect and uplift others. Wonder Woman leads with both heart and conviction — qualities that inspire people to believe in truth, equality, and hope. She reminds us that real power comes from compassion, wisdom, and the willingness to fight for justice.
Trying to be fair to people and meet the needs of others.
I believe that the relationship should be one of trust, transparency and respect for each other.
Maintaining fair taxes for the State. Improving infrastructure
I believe leadership experience is very helpful to maintain and manage the issue s. I do not believe that the have to have previous government or political experience. It is about serving the people and the communities and the State.
I believe it is absolutely necessary to build a relationship with other legislators because they may have experience or examples of the issue. This may be firsthand or shared information. But through this sharing it can help me to make the best decisions.
I met a mother that had a 2 year old that ate vitamins and damaged her liver and had to have a liver Transplant. The mother brought the child with her while she was out working as a Census worker. She said that the medication and healtvare was astronomical and she needed the extra money. She could not afford the medication, medical bills and Childcare and so that is why she said she had the child with her.
I believe medical expenses should be more affordable .
Many State laws allow the Governor to declare emergencies. I believe there should be balances and limits applied.
Fund mobile clinics that could provide Health services free or at minimum cost. Many residents in DeSoto County and Tunica County don't have access to transport to receive medical care.
