Theresa M. Cisneros was a judge for the Colorado 4th Judicial District. She was appointed to this position in January of 1997.[1] Cisneros announced in August 2018 that she would retire on January 7, 2019.[2]

Education

Cisneros received her B.A. degree from the University of Colorado at Denver in 1979 and her J.D. degree from the University of Denver in 1983.[1]

Career

Cisneros worked as a Colorado Deputy Public Defender from June of 1986 to September of 1991. She then worked as a private practice lawyer in Colorado Springs from March of 1993 until her judicial appointment in January of 1997.[1]

Elections

2012

Cisneros was retained in the general election on November 6, winning 69.92% of the vote.[3]

Judicial performance evaluation

The Fourth Judicial District Commission on Judicial Performance announced its recommendations for judges up for retention in 2012. According to its website, the commission evaluates judges based on the following criteria: integrity, legal knowledge, communication skills, judicial temperament, and administrative performance.[4]


Judge Cisneros was recommended for retention by an unanimous vote. [5]
