Albert's campaign website highlighted the following issues:[5]

Families

  • Excerpt: "Like most citizens of Michigan, families in the 86th District have been left behind in this economic recovery. Since the Great Recession median income has not kept up with family bills. Parents should be able to provide for their families while setting aside for retirement and their children’s college education."

Drug enforcement

  • Excerpt: "There is a current drug epidemic occurring in the 86th District. It is time that this outbreak receives the attention it deserves. Overdoses have been occurring at an alarming rate and now is the time to stop the momentum."

Veterans

  • Excerpt: "Despite the best intentions and efforts of employers, the knowledge, skills and abilities of veterans are regularly undervalued. All too often veterans are told that their prior work experience is not “relevant,” and as a consequence they are all too often underpaid or not hired. Thomas will make it a priority to ensure veterans have a voice and make Michigan a leader addressing veteran employment."

Farmers

  • Excerpt: "It is essential to ensure these hard working Americans have all the resources available to provide for the rest of us the basic goods we use on a daily basis."

Scorecards

See also: State legislative scorecards and State legislative scorecards in Michigan

A scorecard evaluates a legislator’s voting record. Its purpose is to inform voters about the legislator’s political positions. Because scorecards have varying purposes and methodologies, each report should be considered on its own merits. For example, an advocacy group’s scorecard may assess a legislator’s voting record on one issue while a state newspaper’s scorecard may evaluate the voting record in its entirety.

Ballotpedia is in the process of developing an encyclopedic list of published scorecards. Some states have a limited number of available scorecards or scorecards produced only by select groups. It is Ballotpedia’s goal to incorporate all available scorecards regardless of ideology or number.
