The 391 judges of the Ohio Courts of Common Pleas are all selected in an identical manner. Qualified individuals wishing to join the bench must participate in partisan primary elections followed by nonpartisan general elections.[3]

The chief judges of the Ohio Courts of Common Pleas are chosen by peer vote and serve for one year.[3]

Qualifications
To serve on an appellate or general jurisdiction court, a judge must be:[3]

  • a district or county resident (for court of appeals and common pleas judges);
  • at least six years practiced in law; and
  • under the age of 70.

Under the Ohio Constitution, a judge who reaches 70 years of age may be assigned by the chief justice to active duty, receiving payment on a per-day basis in addition to whatever retirement benefits he or she is entitled to.

I graduated from the University of Cincinnati Law School in 1999 and joined the Hamilton County Public Defender's juvenile division, where I gained immediate trial experience. I than practiced in the City of Cincinnati Prosecutor's office. After four years of prosecuting criminal cases, I was promoted to the City Solicitor's office where I represented the City in civil matters in State and Federal court, and as a Neighborhood Prosecutor for Cincinnati Police District 4. Finally, I served as the Chief Hearing Officer in the Office of Administrative Hearings immediately prior to my election to the Court of Common Pleas. I am currently a Chief Magistrate for the Hamilton County Common Pleas Court. My experience in defense, prosecution, and civil litigation has prepared me to preside, efficiently and fairly, over the myriad of cases that I would hear daily in Common Pleas Court.
  • Fairness and respect in the Courtroom.
  • Use court wide data analytics to tracks bonds and sentencings.
  • Expand our Jury pool beyond the current registered voter limits
Throughout my legal career I have fought to ensure that everyone has equal access to justice. I protected our youth as a public defender, fought for justice for victims as a prosecutor, and provided free legal counsel to those who could not afford it. If I am elected as your Common Pleas Judge, I will continue to ensure that justice is delivered properly and fairly on the merits of each case that comes before me.
My entire legal career has been dedicated to the proposition that everyone deserves equal access to justice. The breadth of my legal experience makes me uniquely and unquestionably qualified to serve as a judge in the Court of Common Pleas.
My first job before college was Citizen Action, canvassing neighborhoods to raise awareness and support for environmental regulation reform. I've been fortunate to have adults in my life who have set an example of service and working with Citizen Action, even if it was just for the summer, was a way for me to give back as well.

To be open and fair with those who have dealings before your court.
As a Judge I would like to leave a legacy of fairness and openness.
My first job out of law school was as a juvenile public defender, I worked there for 4 years.
That everyone appearing before me should be treated with dignity and respect, and that the Court has a responsibility to be prompt and responsible in dealing with legal matters.
It is important for a judge to have empathy in dealing with legal matters in their courtroom . It is not a sign of weakness or disrespect for the law when a judge takes into consideration the feelings and experiences of those appearing before them . While a legal decision should not be influenced by emotions, a judge's daily interactions should be.
Our local Bar Association surveys attorneys for their views on judges and judicial candidates. A majority of the attorneys who responded to the survey ranked me as excellent.
