Elections
2011
Blanton ran for the Southern District of the Mississippi Public Service Commission. Democrats saw a three way contest between Blanton, James Buckhaults and Mike Collier. Because no candidate received at least 50 percent of the vote, Blanton and Collier, the top two vote-getters in the primary, met in a runoff on August 23. In an extremely tight race, Collier defeated Blanton by just over 200 votes.[1]
