Thomas M. Coffin was a recalled federal magistrate judge for the United States District Court for the District of Oregon. He served as an active duty magistrate judge from 1992 until his retirement on February 25, 2016. He was succeeded by Judge Jolie Russo.[1][2][3]

Education

Judge Coffin earned his J.D. degree from Harvard Law School in 1970.[1]

Career

Judge Coffin began his career in 1971 as an assistant U.S. attorney in the Southern District of California. He worked at this office until 1980, and served as the chief of the Criminal Division from 1978 to 1980. He then moved to the District of Oregon, where he worked as an assistant U.S. attorney until he was appointed magistrate in 1992.[1]
