Thomas D. Winokur (also known as Bo) is a judge of the Florida 1st District Court of Appeal. He assumed office on June 11, 2015. His current term ends on January 2, 2029.
Winokur ran for re-election for judge of the Florida 1st District Court of Appeal. He won in the retention election on November 8, 2022.
He was appointed to the court by then-Republican Governor Rick Scott to fill the vacancy created by the retirement of Nikki Ann Clark.[1]
Winokur stood for retention in 2016 and in 2022 to remain on the bench.[2] He was retained for a six-year term in both elections.
Education
Winokur received his undergraduate degree from the University of Florida and his J.D. from the University of Florida College of Law.[1]
Military service
Winokur served in the United States Army Judge Advocate General's Corps from 1992 until 1995.[1]
Career
Winokur began his legal career as an attorney in private practice. After his service in the Judge Advocate General's Corps, he served as an assistant attorney general for the Florida Office of the Attorney General. Prior to his 2015 appointment to the First District Court of Appeal, Winokur served as assistant general counsel for the executive office of the governor since 2011.[1]
