Thomas G. McCarthy is a former Minnesota First Judicial District judge for Sibley County, Minnesota. He was appointed to this position on February 12, 1988, and was re-elected in 1990, 1996, 2002 and 2008. He retired on July 10, 2014. McCarthy became a statewide senior judge on July 1, 2015, for a term that expired on June 30, 2017.[1]

Education

McCarthy received his B.A. from the University of St. Thomas in 1971 and his J.D. from the University of Notre Dame in 1974.[1]

Career

McCarthy began his legal career in 1974 as a Winthrop City attorney. He worked in this capacity until 1987. He also worked as a private practice lawyer from 1974 to 1988 and a Sibley County attorney from 1979 to 1988.[1]
