Thomas J. Difanis was a judge of the Sixth Circuit Court in Illinois from 1995 to 2020.[1] He was appointed by the Illinois Supreme Court in February 1995 and was retained in each subsequent election.[2] Difanis retired on November 1, 2020.[3]

Difanis was retained to the Sixth Circuit Court with 80.3 percent of the vote on November 4, 2014.[4] 

Evaluations

The Illinois State Bar Association and participating attorneys rated Thomas J. Difanis as Recommended for retention in a 2014 poll.[5]

Career

From 1976 until his judicial appointment in 1995, Difanis was a state's attorney for Champaign County—making him the longest-serving state's attorney in the county at that time. He previously worked for two years as an assistant prosecutor.[2]
