Incumbent Sheila Jackson Lee (D) defeated Lori Bartley (R) and Thomas Kleven (G) in the general election on November 8, 2016. Bartley defeated Reggie Gonzales in the Republican primary runoff on May 24, 2016. Prior to that, Bartley and Gonzales defeated Sharon Joy Fisher and Ava Pate in the Republican primary on March 1, 2016, to advance to the runoff election.[1][2]
